Re: [SLE] SBLive 1024 installation failure..
I receive this message: usr/lib/emu10k1-0.4.SuSE ./install_emu10k1 /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/sound_core.o: couldn't find the kernel version the module was compiled for insmod/lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/sound_core.o failed insmod emu10k1 failed
Have you installed the packages 'modules' and 'kernmod' from the series 'a'? These are the programs required to load modules, and the modules themselves... I'm fairly sure they're installed by default, but best to check. I have them installed.
I saw I had modules under 2.2.13-2G
I renamed the old modules, made a symlink, renamed the modules.conf
and rebuilt the kernel.
Probably I'm making confusion, but more or less it works...
Now I need to do a strange thing, in order to make it work:
rmmod soundcore and then install every time I start up the machine...
if i don't do so insmod says that module soundcore is already installed...
Now it owrks (this way...)
Midi doesn't work, it just works wave players and editors...
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Sergio

I'd say, try ALSA ;-) Download the 0.5.6 packages from
http://www.alsa-project.org and compile drivers/libs/utils. Or wait until
6.4 is out which comes with a recent ALSA (and configurable via YaST2 :).

Thanks a lot, Philipp. I tried Alsa, but I think I-ll wait for the next Suse release....!! Sergio Philipp Thomas wrote:
