How can I tell my system to run at 1280x0124 with H-64 and V-60? Right now I'm running 1280x1024 H-60.4 and V-57 and it doesn't work as well. Tom -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

Tom, You can use the Graphics Card and Monitor setup part of YaST to manually enter in the H and V values for your LCD screen. Monitors->Properties->Frequencies HTH, Mike

Are you running 8.2? Try running "xrandr" and see which options are available to you. If a better refresh rate is available, you can set it with a command like xrandr -r 64 but check first which values are settable by running "xrandr" without any parameters

I ran it but it says my monitor can only do 62Hz at 1280x1024. I know it can do up to 75. BTW, is this similar to an fbconfig command on a UNIX/Sun box? I can do a fbconfig -setres 1280x1024x70 and it will just take it. Thanks, Tom

Dunno if it helps but I had a problem with my CRT monitor's EDID which lied about the monitor's capabilities. Solution was to add an option to ignore EDID to the XF86Config Device section as follows: Section "Device" BoardName "GeForce4 MX 420" BusID "1:0:0" Driver "nvidia" Identifier "Device[0]" VendorName "NVidia" Option "IgnoreEDID" "True" Option "NvAgp" "1" EndSection I was then able to set the mode to 1600x1200 that the monitor is capable of. Dunno if LCD panels have this option. Geoff Horn
