Help! chroot seems to have changed, I can't recover my system Solved
Hi my problem was caused by a system that was only half updated from 15.2 to 15.3. I was eventually able to chroot into my hard drives root from a tty console in the installation system after I had failed to update for the third time. Then I was able to do a zypper dup, force reinstall the kernel and I was able to boot by boot installed system and hunt down the remaining Leap 15.2 packages. Thanks Dave P

Question. The first time you upgraded from 15.2 to 15.3 did you do it by "zypper dup" done _once_? You have to do it _twice_ without rebooting in the middle, for 15.3 only. And this is not written in the docs, AFAIK. The reason is that the first dup adds the SLE repositories, so a second dup recalculates the dup and adds/replaces packages coming from SLE. Or, my recommended procedure, which is: zypper ar -f -n "Update repository of openSUSE Backports" "http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.3/backports/" "repo-backports-update" zypper ar -f -n "Update repository with updates from SUSE Linux Enterprise 15" "http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.3/sle/" "repo-sle-update" zypper --releasever=15.3 refresh zypper --releasever=15.3 dup --download-in-advance - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
