Yes, it works without any problem, I use Office XP Pro (complete) Nevertheless I'm unable to share the same mail rules and folders with outlook XP between SuSe and XP. So I came back to outlook 2000 and it works. Internet explorer coming with office XP works very well but not IE6.

It's not quite what I expected. Crossover works great. You even get access to their support and updates for a while. It's different with WineX though. I'm sure it works great (even though I haven't tried it too much), but you need to install a bunch of gnome-packages to get it to work. For some reason I really don't like that (I'm a bit allergic to gnome for some reason). Furthermore, you get no updates or support whatsoever from the transgaming/winex team. And aren't you supposed to get the source for WineX? You don't get it with the Wine Rack cd. So if Crossover is what you really want, then Wine Rack could be worth it, but then, you could just as easily (and it's probably cheaper) buy it directly from Crossover as they provide rpms as well. That's my opinion anyway. Btw, you don't get any docs or anything with the Wine Rack cd. (not that you would anywhere else though, I'm just saying). a.j onsdag 14 januari 2004 17:36 skrev Gary Ernst:

Hi, I have recently switched from RedHat 9.0 to SuSE Professional 9.0. I am pretty happy, except for one thing... xmms "clicks" when playing mp3s under any but the lightest load. I've tried using both alsa and arts (this one setuid root) as the output plugins, and increased the buffer time up to 10K ms. That, with arts, helps a bit, but not quite enough. Also, the problem is more severe under XFce4 or Gnome than under KDE, surprising as it may sound. I have never had this problem in RedHat using the same hardware. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Cassio

Hmm. I have used WineX in the past, for Warcraft III, and I don't remember having to add much to the base SuSE install. I think you can get the source on the website, but the binaries and support are subscription-based - it may be that some kind soul at SuSE has built their own binaries from the source, and that's why the support is not included. It can sometimes be a bit of a tussle to get individual games working, but once they are it's pretty impressive. -- Best wishes Kevin Donnelly www.kyfieithu.co.uk - Meddalwedd Rhydd yn Gymraeg

You are not supposed to get the WineX source. To parts of the source you get access via www.transgaming.com, check the CVS/developer links. The GNOME stuff is only for the Point2Play GUI interface, which is written in Python with GNOME bindings. Ciao, Marcus
I don't find it too much to ask that they include a src.rpm to the winex rpm they kindly provide. The rpm on the Wine Rack CD is not the same one provided from Transgaming. a.j onsdag 14 januari 2004 23:09 skrev Marcus Meissner:

Sorry for responding twice. Yes, I realize the GNOME stuff is only for Point2Play. Which is nice, I guess. However, I myself would much rather prefer to only install the winex binary but that's not possible unless you rebuild the rpm (which in turn is also impossible, or perhaps just too hard, because they do not provide the source). onsdag 14 januari 2004 23:09 skrev Marcus Meissner:

I'm using Quicktime and Shockwave plugins. Also, MSIE is working. Today I installed Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 6 and it seems that is no problem with it. -- [ Pozdrawiam, Michał Miłoś :: Krasnall ] [ JID: krasnall_chrome_pl ][ GG 122583 ] [ Więcej o mnie na: http://Krasnall.TK ]
