Lately, I've noticed that some of the SuSE web pages seem a bit messed up. When you go to the page, there's a long list of Novell stuff at the left, before you get to the desired info. This happens with both Mozilla and Konqueror. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a new "feature"? An example can be found here. http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/09/fhassel_grub_overview.html

Curious, it happens with both Mozilla 1.7.7 & Konqueror (kde 3.3) on SuSE 9.2, and Konqueror (KDE 3.4), but not Mozilla 1.7.7 on 9.3. It also doesn't occur with Mozilla 1.7.3 or Netscape 4.61 on OS/2 or Mozilla 1.7.3 or Internet Explorer 6 on XP.

Konquerer struck me as being like Internet Explorer except it was for Linux. Neither is very good at displaying W3C-compliant web content and is intended more as a standard graphical user interface for displaying file directories and other local data. I changed KDE to use FireFox as the default browser. That page renders fine on 9.3 with Mozilla 1.7.8. Randall Schulz

As I mentioned, it's OK with Mozilla 1.7.7 on 9.3. It's only Konqueror that's bad on 9.3

The long list of "Novell stuff" should be at the top of the page not the left. The page should look like a frameset with a banner, navigation, and menu window. The page layout is generated by a combination of cascading style sheets and and JavaScript functions. If either is disabled or blocked, the page won't display correctly. The page displays correctly using FireFoz 1.0.4 (SuSE Linux 9.3, Mac OS X 10.4), Safari 2.0 (Mac OS X 10.4), Konguerer 3.4.0 (SuSE Linux 9.3) Merton Campbell Crockett -- BEGIN: vcard VERSION: 3.0 FN: Merton Campbell Crockett ORG: General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems; Intelligence and Exploitation Systems N: Crockett;Merton;Campbell EMAIL;TYPE=internet: mcc@CATO.GD-AIS.COM TEL;TYPE=work, voice, msg, pref: +1(805)497-5045 TEL;TYPE=work, fax: +1(805)497-5050 TEL;TYPE=cell, voice, msg: +1(805)377-6762 END: vcard
