[opensuse] Can't access CDDB Data - sometimes...
Hi all, I am trying to rip audio CD's to flac using konqueror's audiocd:/ feature. When doing so, there is no CDDB information shown, just Track01, Track02, etc. This used to work in 9.3 or 10.1 (I forget which I used to do this before) but now I only have 10.2 running here. On one of my computers Amarok CAN access the CDDB information, so it seems to be available (Amarok is currently set to access freedb.freedb.org using port 8880). On the other Amarok can't access the information, but I that is a problem to be solved later). Does anyone here know how to get konqueror to access this CDDB information? Alternatively, is there a better/alternate way to do this ripping which will incorporate the CDDB information. Sorry to reply to my own post, but after years of using it, I just realized that k3b is capable of ripping CDs, and incorporates the CDDB information. This is exactly what I was looking for (and it was right in front of me the whole time...) -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not yet :-) As I mentioned in a previous post, k3b is working well for what want to do, but I'll look at grip as well. Thanks. -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I like Helix Banshee for ripping. It uses FreeDDB as well and seems to have a better "hit" rate than even Amarok. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) LinuxBrainDump, Linux HowTo's and Tutorials: http://www.linuxbrainddump.org Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
