As I get an ACPI error when trying to shut down, I chose restart and
stop it after Linux has shut down, but before the boot screen appears
again (I'ts a BIOS controlled Power down, unlike the ones of old...)
as a result of this, first attempt to boot after doing the above, I get
a kernel panic and my intel8x0 drivers cause it. I reset and try again,
success every time.
Also does the following fix the power down Problem (submitted by Basil
Chupin):
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I had the same problem in an earlier version of SuSE (?7.2) but the
problem was in the BIOS. I wasn't the only one having this problem, and
the solution (it's mentioned in the SuSE database) was to add-
append=" apm=real-mode-poweroff"
in lilo but one would add this now in the grub menu (if using grub)."

Any good? Thanks in advance
