Hi, yes, There's a link towards the bottom of: http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-2.1.html Haven't tried the 6.3 rpms, but the 6.4 ones went in very nicely, just using rpm -Uvh, with --nodeps or --force occasionally. On Wednesday 28 February 2001 13:06, you wrote:

Since 7.1 is still not available in Singapore, I downloaded the KDE2.1 and installed, run fine, but! 1. It tell me that I do not have permission to access my CDROM? (root is okay) when I try to play CD? 2. almost all the application links are gone. :( no problem, can always link them back. :) Somehow, it's really beautiful and lovely. Thank you: KDE team for your good job done. Dennis/sg

Make sure, you (as a user) have _write_ permissions on the CDROM device. This is required for the CD player application to send commands to the drive. Dunno? don't have chance to see 7.1 yet (not available in local shop, just checked this afternoon) :( But it's is nice to know that my friend (Mac fan) comment on the KDE2.1: "I started to think if the MacOS X copy the idea from KDE2.1 or the other way round?" I really like the drag and drop function in KDE2.1, it just work like MacOS X (beta), the enlarged icon if you set the status bar to minimum size, it's cute and fun. I have almost got everything to work under 2.1 except the scroll wheel, anyone know what/where is the setting/conf.? One last thing, I am unable to get my home's 7.0/2.1 (Konquerer) to play the .swf file from the net, but I got it work on my office desk PC, somehow, when I repeat the same thing (install KDE 2.1) on my assistant's PC, it don't work. I realised that the plug-in page is empty (nothing) for my home and my assistant's PC, and it's full of 'things' on my office desk PC??? what's wrong? Dennis/sg PS: LenZ, I got the CDRom to work by chmod a+r /dev/cdrom, is this safe?
