I'm looking for something for the desktop (KDE 3.2) that will display CPU load, memory usage, CPU temp, and fan speed. Other info would be nice, but this is a start. ;-) I've come across, but not used, gkrellm and karamba (and superkaramba??). Do both of these provide this functionality? Was at the gkrellm site (the app looks great), but couldn't find the temp or fan speed plugins. Is anything additional required to get these working? Thanks for the info. -- Cheers, Trey --- Thieves respect property; they merely wish the property to become their property that they may more perfectly respect it. -- G.K. The temp/speeds are done with plugins and require a mobo capable of delivering the info. Mostly this is only found on acpi machines. Its boreing stuff anyway. Not worth the desk space IMHO. The rest of gkrellm is very nice. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

I currently use gkrellm. It has what you need as "builtin's", so no plugin required, but it does require lmsensors to be installed and operational for fan speeds and CPU temperatures. Can't quite remember all the details, as I have an Asus P4B MB that needs a work around to get it running correctly. Had it running on RH8.0, but just haven't been bothered setting it in in SuSE 8.2 pro. Plenty of plugins for qkrellm........weather, mailbox watch, task manager, application launcher........the list goes on. I have found it extremely useful and use it in Window Marker, my current fav window manager <.....slowly drifting OT....> Hope this is some help. -- Regards, Roland Hill Registered Linux User #330226 http://pl.net/~rnrhill/rhweb.htm @ http://counter.li.org
