[SLE] SuSe 6.4, Laptop and PCMCIA card problem
Greetings to all, I have just purchased and installed 6.4 on my IBM Thinkpad 770X. My PCMCIA network adapter is the IBM 10/100 Etherjet Cardbus card. When the unit is in the docking station, it boots just fine; identifies the card with no errors. When I remove the laptop from the docking station, the boot will hang: total lockup. The only way to boot is to remove the card. This is a portion of the boot process where the hang appears to occur: cardmgr[70]: watching 2 sockets cardmgr[70]: initializing socket 0 cardmgr[70]: socket 0: IBM Etherjet Cardbus cardmgr[70]: executing: 'insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14/pcmcia/cb_enabler.o' cardmgr[70]: executing: 'insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14/pcmcia/tulip_cb.o' This does not happen when docked. I thought IRQ issue, but can't figure out why the difference: this card normally occupies IRQ 10 in OS/2 and WinNT, fwiw. I am still relatively new to SuSE and Linux so any pointers would be helpful. Under 6.2 I had no luck with this card. 6.3 handled it with no problems. 6.4 is the best distribution yet, but this one has me scratching my head. TIA and TYK!
