Hi, I installed the postgresql packages from YaST on my SuSe 9 Than I started it: /etc/init.d/postgresql start It's running, but I can't connect into it.
telnet localhost 5432
Trying ::1... telnet: connect to address ::1: Connection refused Trying 127.0.0.1... telnet: connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
ps -ef | grep postgre
postgres 2540 1 0 08:20 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/postmaster postgres 2541 2540 0 08:20 ? 00:00:00 postgres: stats buffer process postgres 2543 2541 0 08:20 ? 00:00:00 postgres: stats collector process root 2786 2766 0 10:26 pts/1 00:00:00 grep postgre What is wrong? Thanks, Augusto
I would say that you haven't enable socket connections in pg_hba.conf do a locate for that file... try psql template1 as the postgres user and see if that works. If that works then it is most likely the socket connection thing.
