The bad thing is I don't remember exactly which those packages were. So I'll give you the whole list from packman (http://packman.links2linux.org/): mad

this one is from guru (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/): amarok-xine
I assume they all crucial for achieving spotless mp3 playback via Amarok. Someone will correct me if this is wrong.
Pascal's latest Amarok packages don't include ones for the Arts or Gstreamer engines. If you use apt to keep your system up-to-date, and you install his latest packages, you will lose those two engines due to dependencies.
Excellent!!! Works fine now!!! Thanks and Regards. On Wed, 2006-03-15 at 18:29 +0200, Roman Protsiuk wrote:

I had a similar problem. For the longest time, Amarok kept crashing. I upgraded it, stopped crashing, but all of a sudden the helliox engine said it couldn't play mp3s. Switched over to xine, works like a charm now.

I just installed the xine engine, and then recompiled (its not too hard) xine-lib and made sure that it used the built-in mad support. I haven't had a single problem since. -Steven
