[opensuse] Konqueror frustration...
Hi gang, On Opensuse 10.3, every time I open konqueror to use as a web browser (I don't use it anymore as a file browser, that job is dedicated to krusader), it starts up an *always* tries to take me to the opensuse.org website. I've changed the 'homepage' to another website, and still it starts up with the opensuse irl in the location bar(?). I've cleared the history. I've checked a hundred times all my settings in konqueror and nowhere can I find a place to stop/delete/make it go away. How the heck do I get it to stop this? It's driving me nuts! Thanks for any assistance with this. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi Benji, I looked at that and clicked on 'save' for 'web browsing', then deleted the opensuse.org url in the history and closed Konqueror. I then opened it again, and it's still there doing the same thing. The save view profile thing isn't very clear what it's supposed to do or how to use it. I don't know if I'm supposed to keep the 'keep urls' check-marked or not or anything. Any other ideas? I really am getting sick of this trying to force me to the opensuse.org site every time I open Konqueror. -- The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Okay...that thing about 'keep URLs' was the trick. I unchecked it and then saved and it opened without the opensuse.org thing. The way it looked, to me, was that if I unchecked the 'keep URLs' it'd delete my bookmarks. Thanks for the help. -- A3: Please. Q3: Should I avoid top posting on this mailing list? Really: Settings -> Save View Profile "Web Browsing..." -> check "Save URLs in Profile" and hit save. Works fine here. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Yeah, "really". It's just the opposite. One needs to *uncheck* the 'save URLs' thing to rid themselves of the forced-on-us site, *then* it "works fine". Like I said, it's not very clear and about the only thing in konqueror that I don't consider intuitive. I've also never before had to do anything like this until 10.3 (I went from 9.3 to 10.3 without upgrading to any of those in between, so I don't know if it did this on those others). But it's solved, so thanks to everyone. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ah hah, I bet you are suffering from another stuck default setting problem in konqueror. You must check the box to save the url. konqueror handbook: " If you select Save URLs in profile, the current URL will be loaded when you load that view profile. This functions in a similar way to the “Home Page” in many web browsers. If you want Konqueror to start up with an empty window enter about:blank into the location bar before saving the profile. " However, I have had the check boxes work just the opposite the first time I have used them because to the check box "state" being missing from the konquerorrc file. Seems toggling the check causes the setting to be saved. I have another konqueror bug open on similar behavior: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=415270 I wouldn't be surprised if this was behind the check box behavior you are experiencing. -- David C.
