[opensuse] Where to Download 9.3?
still pretty new to the linux world & we need to rebuild our 9.3 webserver on a new box right away - there is some custom code that our dev team doesn't have time to test on a newer SUSE release. Thanks, Joel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I take it you don't have the media stashed away somewhere. I doubt you'll find the CD's for download. Perhaps someone in you area could loan them to you. I don't have enough bandwidth or I would make them available to you. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Use this source:
Looks like your best bet is an ftp install. In the boot directory you will find a boot.iso file. Download and burn the iso to CD and use it to start the install. Use ftp as the type and ftp5.gwdg.de as the server with pub/linux/suse/discontinued/i386/9.3 as the path. That should get you going. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The other link will provide DVD medium, after some additional work, good for repairs etc. http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/suse/i386/9.3/iso/split/ Above was done long time ago when ftp server wasn't able to deal with files bigger than 2 GB. Eberhard provided 3 files that locally can be combined after download. This is from README: -------------------------------- Download all 3 parts and put them together using following commands in Linux: FN=SUSE-9.3-Eval-DVD.iso cat ${FN}.part1 ${FN}.part2 ${FN}.part3 > ${FN} Under Win$ows do this: copy /b SUSE-9.3-Eval-DVD.iso.part1 + SUSE-9.3-Eval-DVD.iso.part2 + SUSE-9.3-Eval-DVD.iso.part3 SUSE-9.3-Eval-DVD.iso -------------------------------- The windows command is single line. So far I recall the windows command similar to Linux would be: set FN=SUSE-9.3-Eval-DVD.iso copy /b %FN%.part1 + %FN%.part2 + %FN%.part3 %FN% Though I'm not quite sure in syntax. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Thanks everyone. I downloaded the CD iso here: ftp://ftp.novell.hu/pub/mirrors/ftp.suse.com/ Just the first CD was all I needed. - Joel

You didn't have backups????? To any manager who doesn't want to spend money on a back-up system, I always ask this question: How much are the files on these computers that were created in-house worth to you?
Thanks,
Joel

The answer this question would, most probably, be, "Nothing, but the contents are worth a lot". Ciao. -- If you don't succeed you run the risk of failure. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't read there that they lost files :-? What they don't have is the 9.3 install disk - which they should. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
