[opensuse] Bind ethernet addresses

Hi, Does anyone know how to bind multiple ip address to a single ethernet card? For example, I have an ethernet modem with an external ip address that is allocated via eth0 (this I have already done and is connected on eth0 and works properly). I would now like to create an internal ip address on the same network card (eth0:1) that has a static ip address (ie 192.168.0.251), How can this be done via yast? Is there a Suse Howto to do this? Thanks for any help. Rgds. Otto Rodusek. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This can be done via Yast. Network Devices -> Network card Select the correct network card from the list and press the 'configure' button in 10.3 You can just select 'Statically assigned IP address' and add your addresses in 10.2 Select the 'advanced' drop-down and go to 'additional addresses' Kind regards, Leo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Leo - that did the trick. Rgds. Otto. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yast supports additional addresses. In 10.3, on the network card address tab, there's a box at the bottom, with an Add button. That's what you use. I just checked in 10.0 and it's there too, but with a different method of getting to the add address point. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
