-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Since a recent update I notice something different in Thunderbird that I don't like (Using version 91.5.0 on Leap 15.3). I'm reading the subject lines in the top panel (I don't know its name). It shows the from, to, subject, date... I go up and down using the wheel on the mouse. I locate an email I want to read, so in the bottom panel I have the email. I want to browse it, so I poise the mouse over the panel and move the wheel... nothing happens. I have to click on the panel first, then move the wheel, then the mail read panel goes up or down the email. This did not happen before, the window would follow the wheel as soon as I move the wheel. On other programs it works, it is just Thunderbird that has changed behaviour. I thought I would get used to the change, so I have waited two weeks, but no, it is still a nuisance. Is there some configuration to change back to the old behaviour? Is this a bug? - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. how have you set "focus under mouse" or "focus follow mouse" or ... systemsettings5 -> window management -> window behavior -> focus -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc What sort of day was it? But as I said, this problem doesn't happen on other applications, only Thunderbird is affected. Then, it is not a window that I want to get the focus, but a section of a window. This is not controlled by that setting you say, AFAIK. And I definitely do not want windows to pop up as I hover with the mouse. Oh, I forgot: I use XFCE. Anyway, I tried "focus follows mouse" and there is no change. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)

It looks like the default setting, at least in Plasma, is "click to focus". I suspect that TBird takes that setting a bit too literally. Changing to "focus follows mouse" makes TBird work again in Plasma, but of course now, the focus follows the mouse wherever the pointer goes -- which isn't quite what I want. <sigh>

In XFCE the behaviour is different. I have this layout: +-----+--------------------------+ | | | | A | B | | | | | +--------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | | C | | | | +-----------------+ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | E | | | | | | | | | | | | | | +-----------------+ +-----+--------------------------+ 'E' is this mail edit window. I have the focus on 'E', then I move the mouse in this order: A B C and move the wheel in each: it works. No need to have focus follows mouse, the mouse wheels movement instantly changes the focus (on all applications). Now I go to 'B' and select a different email. Then do A, C, and move the wheel in both: it works. Then E to write this paragraph. Now I go to 'B' and select a different email. Then do C, A, and move the wheel in both: The normal behaviour (these days) is that on C it does not work, in A it does, then back to C and it works. But today it is working in all. Sigh. I was going to describe the problem in detail, and today it works. No updates, I just hibernated the machine as usual for the night. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)
