[opensuse] 10.2 on core 2 duo
Shouldn't 10.2 have installed the smp kernel on a cor 2 duo machine? It installed "default", yet cat /proc/cpuinfo shows both. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

They renamed the "smp" kernel to be the "default" kernel and they dropped the other. David --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ok. Thanks. A bit misleading, that leaves me wondering which ATI ati-fglrx-kmp-<kernelflavour> pkg I should install, since they have both a default and an smp. (None of which install for me mind you....but thats another problem) -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
The pre-compiled ATI drivers only work for 10.1. I don't think you'll find a pre-compiled ATI driver for 10.2 you need to compile it yourself. Follow these instructions: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/ati-installer-HOWTO.html David. John Andersen wrote:

According to this page I'm not going to be able to do that either: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=198125 -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

That's how it is with beta versions. Good luck David --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well they called for testers and I had this new machine that is not yet in service so I can mess with it to my hearts content. I thought I'd give it a try. I could try 10.1 but I think I'd rather hold out for 10.2. Maybe I'll try Kubuntu 6.10 while I'm waiting for ATI to exdigitate. Maybe -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
