I use SuSE 10.0 and I apply a version 1.5 of Firefox. Download this versión and then Uncompress. For plug-ins you can make a soft-link or copy to plug-ins directory. telecom:/opt/FireFox/plugins # l total 22 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 480 Jan 27 12:32 ./ drwxr-xr-x 13 root root 1136 Mar 8 15:48 ../ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 40 Jan 27 12:32 flashplayer.xpt -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/flashplayer.xpt lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 42 Jan 27 12:32 libflashplayer.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 58 Jan 27 12:32 libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/java/jre1.5.0_05/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18840 Jan 27 12:32 libnullplugin.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 46 Jan 27 12:32 mplayerplug-in-gmp.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/mplayerplug-in-gmp.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 45 Jan 27 12:32 mplayerplug-in-qt.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/mplayerplug-in-qt.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 45 Jan 27 12:32 mplayerplug-in-rm.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/mplayerplug-in-rm.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 46 Jan 27 12:32 mplayerplug-in-wmp.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/mplayerplug-in-wmp.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 42 Jan 27 12:32 mplayerplug-in.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/mplayerplug-in.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 35 Jan 27 12:32 nphelix.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/nphelix.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 36 Jan 27 12:32 nphelix.xpt -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/nphelix.xpt* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 Jan 27 12:32 nppdf.so -> /usr/lib/browser-plugins/nppdf.so* telecom:/opt/FireFox/plugins # To Run Firefox: /opt/FireFox/firefox & Good luck!! ______________________________ Oscar Carrillo Escobar On Wed, 2006-03-08 at 18:52 -0600, Jim Sabatke wrote:

Since installing 10, it seems that the Firefox plug-ins no longer work properly. When opening up flash web sites I am always prompted to download flash. Flash is already installed. Also, when opening up a PDF in the browser, Adobe no longer opens inside Firefox. The plug-in is installed and enabled, however Firefox just sits there and displays an empty page. I even went so far as to re-install the Acrobat plugin and it told me that it was already installed.
I did not have this problem with 9.2. Plug-ins just worked. Can anyone offer me some advice on how to resolve this problem?
Thank you!

Could it be that the plug-ins are disbaled for that version of Firefox? I could be wrong of course :-( I can't check on my SuSE tinat the moment because I'm having to rebuild it from the ground up (replacement mobo). In Win 2000 running Firefox 1.5.0.1 if I click on the Tools tab (top toolbar) then on extensions it should tell you whether the given extensions are compatible with that version. I currently have only one that is not compatible and that is Star Downloader.
I would suggest ugrading Firefox and then try upgrading the extensions. It is an easier task with Firefox since 1.5 was released.
Good luck. --
I reported the same problem under SuSE 9.0 and Acrobat. It works fine on 3 of my boxes and has your problem on the 4th. There are no version differences that I can find. It just sits and hangs opening a PDF. I've tried upgrading everything I can think of, with no effect.
