Dear Mr. Daniel,
Change actual device node install CD is on: (ie. install was done from /dev/hdc, that CD drive removed, new SCSI CD drive installed, /dev/sr0, and linked to /dev/cdrom. Now yast2 will not see the CD drive and there is no way ive found to fix it) yast1 = yes yast2 = no
see also, solution may be similar: http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/yast2_pakete_installieren.html
That fixed my problem, Thanks again. However a simpler solution would have been to allow the user to simply select the device node or for it to use /dev/cdrom.
For a powerful workstation SuSE 8.0 pro is the best linux money can buy, for a server i would stick to 7.*
For a commercial product SLES and its derivates will be the product.
and at around AU$1500 this puts it out of the price range of non enterprise users (at least out of mine anyway). Does SLES come with a different setup tool to yast2? Or has the version of yast2 bundled with SLES had all the problems fixed?
Kind regards / Mit freundlichen Gren,
Jrg Dippel
