Re: [SLE] Vmware problems
More importantly, when I run Vmware it complains it can't open the RTC device, which is odd because the /dev/rtc device is there. It has
You can put "rtc.startConnected = FALSE" in the .cfg file as well.
I finally had to ask Vmware support to get this parameter. Couldn't find it
anywhere on their web site.

of crw------- which is just the same as my old SuSE-6.4 installation which
worked fine. Changing the permissions of /dev/rtc to crw-rw-rw- doesn't help. According to the Vmware website, WinNT and Win2K don't use the RTC, so I can leave it disconnected. Fine, but how do I set it up so it always starts disconnected?
As you can tell from my signature below, I am using vmware 2.0.3. Works great. 1. I solved the RTC thingy by compiling rtc into the kernel; I don't remember where it is in make xconfig, but it is there. 2. I have used vmware for quite a while, never had a problem. When vmware-config.pl asks for locations of compilers, are you sure they are there? When it warns about local use of ip addresses, did you check the file it mentions in the warning?
