Hi All Bit of a novice but here goes. Printing from my HP 2100 did not work after first installation on my newly built machine. Found that the BIOS has set the parallel port to std port rather than enhanced. Now the printer is recognised but does not print properly. A web page, for example, when printed will set out the page OK, will print the image OK but does not print the text properly. The text looks a little like bar codes - vertical lines only. At other places is looks like the letters overlap, as if the wrong font is used. Any ideas please will be grateful Phillip

At a rough guess I'd say you have the wrong driver installed or an incorrect option selected. In YaST I suggest you edit the ppd file YaST-->Hardware-->Printer-->Change --> HP2100-->edit-->PPD File-->edit and select a different ppd file for your printer. Then try "Test printing" --> text file I suggest you have a look at this site regarding drivers http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_2100 The other thing to watch is the options you have set for the printer. YaST-->Hardware-->Printer-->Change --> HP2100-->edit-->Printer Filter Settings-->edit Another thing to look at is to see whether you have "Fonts Embedded" set or not. Try changing and see what happens. Kmenu-->Utilities-->Printing-->Print Manger--> (from top menu) Print Manager-->TTFonts-->Fonts Embedding That is about all I can think of off the top of my head. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
