[opensuse] zypper dup 42.3 -> 15.0 loses all LibreOffice Templates/Settings, KDE Plastic/Keramik styles not available?
All, After having done several full installs of 15.0 and 15.1 with no notable issues, I did my first zypper dup --downloadinadvance after having done a zypper clean and zypper ref. The zypper dup went well (even with the NVidia drivers and cinelerra repos). However, I have two frustrating problems that are not present in the fresh installs of 15.0 and 15.1. First with LibreOffice, all templates, settings and dictionaries are gone. Nowhere to be found in the menus. Next, I use Keramik as the KDE3 style (in both 15.0 and 15.1 fresh installs), but after a zypper dup, the Plastik and Keramik styles do not show in the menus. The versions of the packages are exactly the same between the working 15.0 fresh install box and this box. The only styles shown available are CDE, Windows 95, Platinum and SGI (yuk). None of the core KDE widget styles are listed in Appearance->Style. kdeglobals still has my widgetStyle=keramik, but it displays as CDE (first in shown list I guess) The library files are all there: $ find . -type f -name "*keramik*" ./share/apps/kwin/keramik.desktop ./share/apps/kstyle/themes/keramik.themerc ./share/doc/HTML/en/krec/krec-keramik.png ./lib64/kde3/kwin3_keramik.so ./lib64/kde3/kwin_keramik_config.so ./lib64/kde3/kwin3_keramik.la ./lib64/kde3/kwin_keramik_config.la ./lib64/kde3/plugins/styles/keramik.so ./lib64/kde3/plugins/styles/keramik.la ./lib64/kde3/kstyle_keramik_config.so ./lib64/kde3/kstyle_keramik_config.la I have run kbuildsycoca --noincremental to eliminate a cache issue and restarted the desktop, no joy.... So where has my LibreOffice config gone and where have the default styles gone? Any thoughts/guesses? -- David C. I think there was a major LO update involved, possibly the package names have changed and were not included. There is an "office" pattern. In 15.0 yast there are still groups, but not in 15.1 so I can not suggest which. Or you can compare your list of packages with mine: Telcontar:~ # rpm -qa | grep -i libre | grep -i office libreoffice-mailmerge-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-share-linker-1-lp151.3.3.1.noarch libreoffice-calc-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-qt5-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-branding-upstream-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.noarch libreofficekit-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-base-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-gtk2-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-math-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-l10n-es-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.noarch libreoffice-icon-themes-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.noarch libreoffice-calc-extensions-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-gtk3-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-base-drivers-firebird-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-gnome-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-pyuno-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-l10n-en-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.noarch libreoffice-filters-optional-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-impress-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-writer-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-writer-extensions-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 libreoffice-draw-6.2.7.1-lp151.3.6.1.x86_64 Telcontar:~ # Now, the config was at some time in ~/.libreoffice, then it migrated to ~/.config/libreoffice. Thank you Carlos!, rm -r /4 ln -s 4-suse 4 All templates and settings are back in LO. I still don't know WTF the issue is with the default KDE3 widget styles disappearing. kdebase and kdelib should be reading and recognizing the installed keramik and plastik widgetStyles, but for some reason after zypper dup it doesn't. Even after building TDE for years, I'm not aware of any config file that would control it, really really bizarre. I also forgot to add a lock for MozillaFirefox that ended up at version 70 that totally wiped out my Firefox profile. Downgrading got 60.0.8 back, but the profile was still borked. (all the carefully crafted NoScript rules caput) Do you know why FF 70 is over 20MB larger than FF60? What on earth could cause a browser to balloon by 20MB (my first instinct is that it probably isn't something that is good for the user....) ARRG!!! I can send you this message!!! zypper up fscked up my gpg private keys. I go to send and enigmail says it can't find my private key for this account Huh?? Trying import from back... SOB, it had wiped out my key created in 42.3 - dunno why. I re-imported my secret keys and now hopefully this will send.... -- David C. But Leap 15.1 is still on 60, not 70. You must be using some extra repo, perhaps experimental.

zypper dup with allowed vendor change pulls qt3 from packman instead of the KDE3 repo. After noticing minor version differences and running zypper dup --from kde and switching qt3 back to the version in the KDE3 repo, all styles magically re-appeared. Would not have ever thought packman and the KDE3 repo both provided qt3, but they do -- an they do not function the same -- not by a long shot... Reported on freenode/#packman. I don't know where else to report it. I provided the following on IRC: <IRC quote> <drankin> Leap 15.0, packman qt3-3.3.8c-lp150.157.3 is incompatible with the qt3 from the openSUSE KDE3 repo and the packman qt3 causes loss of all KDE3 styles. When I looked earlier it seemed packman had a slightly newer release, so I don't believe that. Might want to double-check though. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
