Tryign to get some scripts to work in PHP, and the yare not working,
LOL! That's a great typo! The yare - the yare is type of creature best suited for lounging around. Often they are given tasks and found not working. :)
one package I tried (PHPBB 2) installing gives me the error "he PHP configuration on your server doesn't support the database type that you chose"
<snip> Not quite sure what you mean. I have PHP and MySQL working pretty much out of the box on all my systems. Here's a (very outdated) article on Novell's site about how to get it working. http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/595.html There's this one, too, which seems to do with XAMPP. http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/14498.html Now, IIRC, there is no need to setup the groups mentioned in the article. I just went to yast, installed the PHP and MySQL versions I liked and then rebooted. (I'm a Windows user after all.) HTH! -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com linux - genuine windows replacement part
If it was that easy I would not be asking for help. As I did install
mysql, php, apache, mod php, etc all down the list.
Configure Command:
'./configure' '--prefix=/usr' '--datadir=/usr/share/php'
'--mandir=/usr/share/man' '--bindir=/usr/bin' '--libdir=/usr/share'
'--includedir=/usr/include' '--sysconfdir=/etc' '--with-_lib=lib'
'--with-config-file-path=/etc' '--with-exec-dir=/usr/lib/php/bin'
'--disable-debug' '--enable-inline-optimization'
'--enable-memory-limit' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--enable-safe-mode'
'--enable-sigchild' '--disable-ctype' '--disable-session'
'--without-mysql' '--disable-cli' '--without-pear' '--with-openssl'
'--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs2-prefork' 'i586-suse-linux'
Shows me that the php that was came with Novels Suse linux 10.0 does
not have php compiled into it. Now I can be wrong. if I am please
someone help.
I had this working in 9.x out of the box too. But then I also
installed and had lots of other things working too.

AFAIK, just because php is compiled with '--without-mysql' it doesn't mean you can't have mysql support. You just need to install and load the mysql extension module. /Per Jessen, Zürich

Yikes! I have no clue what all that stuff is. I just go to YaST and install anything to do with PHP and MySQL. Works fine on this end for 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, and 10.0. HTH!! -- kai
