I've upgraded to wine 20030508 and now it's much much faster then before but still a bit of problem with fonts. I'm getting tuns of errors like one below. Anyone can suggest what is missing? I've tried your recommendation but it still does the same stuff. Issue is my application end up without any fonts as instead of letters in menus I see only squares. Martin --- zentara wrote:

Yeah, the "building font-metrics error messages". You will get this everytime you change fonts.

There is only 1 way to deal with it. (Other than deleting all the error fonts)

Let the "building font metrics" go thru 1 time, and ignore the errors. It will make a file called ~/.wine/cachedmetrics.:0.0

Now make this file mode 444 so it won't get changed, and add the following to the ~/.wine/config file

[fonts] "FontMetrics" = "/home/user/.wine/cachedmetrics.:0.0"

of course use your username :-)

Then it should skip the "building font-metrics" the next time wine starts.
