[opensuse] unifont-10.0.05.bdf
I have put unifont-10.0.05.bdf into /usr/share/fonts but it does not seem to be available. I ran fonts-config and restarted X. How do I get it to appear in xfontsel? http://www.unifoundry.com/unifont.html -- ~ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

xfontsel shows X server fonts, and this directory is not in font path by default. Nor is it really relevant, as most toolkits today use client side fonts (that are affected by fonts-config). If you really need to use server side fonts, add directory to font path or place font in one of existing directories. Otherwise font is likely already available to fontconfig based applications. Not also that openSUSE already provides package for GNU Unifont (although rather more dated than the latest version).

What are the directories used by server side fonts? I am using xterm, so I typically select a font using xfontsel, then put it on the command line: xterm -font "-*-courier 10 pitch-*-r-*-*-17-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" Although I can see the font Gnu Unicode in xfce4-terminal, I cannot see it in fontsel, so cannot use it in xterm. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You can see them in Xorg.log (most likely /var/log/Xorg.0.log). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

man mkfontdir, man mkfontscale $ grep fonts /var/log/Xorg.0.log HTH, -dnh -- tracer_panic("I'm tracing myself and I can't get out"); linux-2.6.6/arch/um/kernel/tt/syscall_user.c -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
