[opensuse] KDE4.4 missing openSUSE tweaks to KMenu?
I've not been too bothered by this for a while now... but I'd like to "fix" it. I'm running the latest KDE4.4 Beta builds, and when I installed them, the openSUSE tweaks to the KMenu disappeared... now I've got a K for the menu button instead of Geeko, and.more noticeable, the convenient Install Software and YaST entries are missing from the Computer submenu - basically the default KDE layout. Is there a package associated with these openSUSE tweaks? Or a config setting that is changed when you install the 4.4 Betas? You should have kdebase4-openSUSE package and the *-branding-* packages should be *-openSUSE and not *-upstream. -- Lubos Lunak openSUSE Boosters team, KDE developer l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Was this ever resolved?? Have just updated to KDE4.4 and have the same problem ie openSuse specific icons disappeared, as well as yast shortcuts, etc, Thanks, John. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had a look through the kdebase4-workspace package ... looks like a lot of the openSUSE specific patches need rediff'ing against KDE4.4. I've done the work for the plasma-branding patch that introduced the yast shortcut and submitted it to KKFD so hopefully it will be fixed for 4.4.1. It was never resolved for my main system which is on a rolling update on Factory. I still see the problem on all other updates I've done to KDE4.4.0 on my laptops etc. I gave up on chasing this after I received a bunch of *off-list* emails basically calling me an idiot who couldn't figure out how to install the openSUSE branding packages. :-( At this point, none of the systems I've got running (including a bunch I am supporting) KDE4.4.0 have any openSUSE branding after updating to 4.4.0. It would be nice to get the branding back. C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, it was a missing patch in the kdebase4-workspace package, not the branding packages. So those people were wrong, and apologies on their behalf.

Like I said in my email, I've only just submitted the fix to KKFD. It has not yet been accepted (i'm just a community member, not KDE team) and then it has to get pushed to Factory. If you want to track it yourself my request is #33629 on the OBS. Hmmm I wonder how it is that all the Factory users/contributors missed it...

No worries. I'm used to it. The openSUSE mailing list is slowly deteriorating into something I'm seriously considering unsubscribing from... and this is after being a continuous subscriber for about 12 years now. The off-list abuse gets a bit much, but that's what Delete is for :-)

Cool. That patch will me much appreciated if/when it's implemented. C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I've noticed a deterioration as well including lots of long pointless threads. Sadly the forums don't seem to have improved enough to take over for me personally. I don't get too much off-list abuse (that's probably an invitation to hell :) but perhaps that's because my view is that that's what mail filters are for, rather then the delete key! If any abuse comes from somebody who is a list member, let Henne know. That's not acceptable behaviour. May I draw our collective attention to http://en.opensuse.org/Guiding_Principles, especially: "We value ... respect for other persons and their contributions, for other opinions and beliefs. We listen to arguments and address problems in a constructive and open way. We believe that a diverse community based on mutual respect is the base for a creative and productive environment enabling the project to be truly successful. We don't tolerate social discrimination and aim at creating an environment where people feel accepted and safe from offense" That means irrespective of skills, preferred desktop or however many goofs we make on-list due to low caffeine levels or whatever reason. If you or anyone else is having a problem with off-list sniping, you can ask the openSUSE Board to step in and bang heads together^W^W^Wsort things out. We value this list and the expertise it contains. Hmm, maybe that are not really openSUSE members, but someone misusing fact that your mail address is visible. It will be interesting to see those addresses, or even better emails with all header information. -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
