Here is the fstab entry for my NTFS partictan which SuSE 8.1 came up with automatically during install. It is read only because it is still unreliable to write to an NTFS partitian. /dev/hda1 /windows/C ntfs ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=iso8859-1 0 0 Art -----Original Message----- From: Cleo Aridjis [mailto:aridjis@xs4all.nl] Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 8:22 AM To: Suse Mailing List Subject: Re: [SLE] NTFS Op vrijdag 1 november 2002 09:30, schreef Michael Rhys:
Dear Suse fans,
I have a dual boot laptop which has 3 partitions:
1. Suse 8.0 2. Fat 32 3. NTFS compressed
From within SUSE I can quite happily mount and read the Fat32 partition, by placing an entry in fstab. I can't seem to do the same for the NTFS partition. I have seen references in emails which suggest that this can be done, however, I have been unable to find out how. Could someone please enlighten me.
Many Thanks
Mike.
I have the same problem, i can not mount ntfs partions in SuSE 8.1. In SuSE 8.0 i didn't have any problem. I get the messages that i donn't have enough rights when i log in as user, as root i can read ntfs partions without any problem. I did change al thet rights for the user but i still cannot read them. This is my fstab i think its alright. /dev/hda1 /windows/C ntfs ro,noauto,user,exec 0 /dev/hda5 /windows/D ntfs ro,noauto,user,exec 0 /dev/hda8 / reiserfs defaults 1 1 /dev/hdb1 /backup reiserfs user,data=ordered 1 2 /dev/hda6 boot ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdb2 /pub reiserfs user,data=ordered 1 2 /dev/hda7 swap swap pri=42 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0 Cleo -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
