Ciao Thorsten, but what is a Vorlon? Stefano -----Original Message----- From: Thorsten Kukuk [mailto:kukuk@suse.de] Sent: Monday, November 01, 1999 1:25 PM To: zentara Cc: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] upgrading glibc with suse rpm's On Mon, Nov 01, zentara wrote:
Hi, In my search for why kernel 2.2.13's kmod wasn't working for me, while 2.2.5's is working, I began to think I needed the latest glibc for the threads to work.
No, this has nothing with glibc to do.
I have the original suse6.0, with the original glibc. Suse 6.1 has a newer glibc version?
No, SuSE Linux 6.2 has with glibc 2.1.1 a newer glibc version, not SuSE Linux 6.1.
Is it possible for me to download the latest glibc rpm and just rpm -U it, without disrupting my older system?
No, there are binaries which will not work with the new glibc. You need to recompile some libaries and binaries. Don't ask me yet which. It is much easier to update to SuSE Linux 6.2.
