I'm not sure where to start on this one.. My TV Card (Hauppage) comes with a remote control. KWinTV worked straight out of the box except for the remote control.. Does anybody know how to get this working ? Many Thanks Pete
I only use this under Windows, but as a hint the remote control loads as a separate program, it is not part of the main program, also once running it will only work if the TV has the focus. Regards, David On Sat, 22 Dec 2001 19:47:50 +0000, pete atkinson wrote:

You should be able to get it to work but you will need to get and install lirc. I don't have the link to it's home page but there you should be able to find some info on how to set up your /etc/modules.conf file and such in conjuction with installing the lirc package. Mine works fine here. -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com
Well, it took a while, but I finally got it working..... Many thanks for your pointers. Basically, downloaded latest lirc package, ./configure'd it then make and make install. After that chmod on the /dev/lircd device and then started lircd and lircmd. Kwintv picked it up straight away.. all I have to do now is get the lircd and lircmd commands to start up automatically..... regards Pete On Thursday 27 December 2001 10:28, you wrote:

There is a script "lirc" in the package somwhere that you can place in /etc/init.d/lirc that will start the deamons at boot time for you. You'll have to get it there and run insserve to set it in stone. I don't remember if I made my own or used one from the package but if you need it let me know. -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com

Well the script discussed below doesn't care what model you have if that's what you are asking. There are .conf files for bothe lircd and lircmd that need to be set up for your remote model. There are facilities in the package to build your own if you have one that is not supported. Mine is a Hauppage WinTV-dbx model 401. The TV card came with a remote. Works like a champ. Mark
