Re: [SLE] How to control text session?
Thank you Graham!!!! Your termcap file and the settings are working fine, the only change i've done is to use vt100 which allows me to work with screen. I'm running SLES9x86 with Informix 9.4, clients are accessing through konsole in an LTSP environment and win clients with putty. There are some issues right now, like f1 .. f12 which are not working, ESC and DEL keys neither, graphic chars doesn't show up, it seems than i can not escape to all the terminfo/termcap problems, i'll definitively learn them!!!!, do you have any docs, guides, manuals, tips where can i read ??? Best regards and Merry Christmas!!! Oxiel El Mar 21 Dic 2004 23:06, Graham Smith escribió:

Well after a long looooong reading it's running now. :)
But i've a problem with the display, i need to work with Informix, when the client starts the application, the display gets totally distorted.
Clients work with TERM=xterm without problems, but when they start screen, the variable changes to TERM=screen and problems arise, now /etc/screenrc has:
termcapinfo xterm* G0:is=\E[?4l\E> termcapinfo linux me=\E[m:AX
I think Informix work with terminfo, how can i solve these, swear i've read all the screen's man, the terminal howto, and a bunch of webpages, but can't make it work yet.
I added "dumptermcap" to /etc/screenrc but doesn't help either.
I'm running Informix SE without any problems with Konsole.
The main settings I use related to your problem are:
export INFORMIXTERM=termcap export TERM=xterm export TERMCAP=/opt/informix/etc/termcap
The attached is my modified termcap. Just install it in some directory and set your TERMCAP to that directory. Mine as you can see is in /opt/informix/etc
It should work OK for you. The problem with terminfo is that the colours and keyboard mapping becomes a nightmare to configure, termcap is bad enough.
If you have any problems just send me an email and I'll try and help you.

The file I sent you was optimised for Konsole and xterm. The VT stuff is really non-existant in that file. To identify the keycodes use the following command od -c -x Press the key you want to know; Then press Enter; Then ^d Way back when I was fiddling with Windows NT (and hated it) I had real problems with all the Window VT and xterm emulators. Most of them did not work at all, I never tried Putty (as I said it was a very long time ago). The codes for drawing boxes and ansi line drawing characters is where you will have problems. You may have to muck around a lot to get these to work. You may have better success with the Informix supplied termcap. As I said previously don't use terminfo as it doesn't support colour if I remember. Try googling for "informix +termcap" and I think you will find a lot of info.
