IIRC, you can recreate it as root with the following command: mknod /dev/sda1 b 8 1 It should be owned by root, be in the 'disk' group, and have permissions of 660 - like this: brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 Mar 14 07:07 /dev/sda1 -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@CONSOLIDATEDLINT.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE

Thanks much, it fixed everything. I'm much better at this than I was in Feb, but I hadn't learned this command. Thanks again. - ---Michael -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/NVnKjeziQOokQnARAiKWAJ0SyDP3eT727ogO/hhxJZ7a0h8bKwCZAd04 VybzlkkNqYGcFNjws4XgdyI= =F4Eh -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
