Ret Hat rpms on SuSE systems
Does anyone have experiences to report, either favorable or unfavorable, on installing rpms on SuSE systems that were built for Red Hat systems? Paul Abrahams

Some work, some don't. It's very much up to the individual package and which paths they use and which libs they were compiled against. opera and yahoo messenger are two examples of packages where the important thing isn't which distro they're for, but which libs they use. Both work admirably on several distros, as long as they use the same gcc/glibc/gtk/whatever_they_use_to_run
