Evolution problem....HELP! I lost some email
I was screwing around with Evolution 1.2 at work, deleting old email when I noticed that in my Vfolders (which I still don't understand their uses) I had what looked like over 4k messages. Thinking to myself, I don't need those, I deleted them. They went to my trash folder and I emptied the trash. Well I had to look in a folder, that I named for my customer, and all the emails I had in there were gone! I had over 2 years worth of email and they are all gone. I could only contribute this to my deleting of the messages in my "Unmatched" VFolder. I checked other folders for my other customers and 99% of the emails are gone. Are they really gone, or can I get them back somehow? Why would deleting messages in a VFolder take messages out of my custom folders? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Because VFolders are basically searches that span multiple folders, so the mails you see in them, are really in actual folders. So, yes, they're gone, but you could always restore the mbox files for the folders in question from a backup... Why would deleting something from a "virtual" folder remove real files? I could see the other way around.

Ya, I did. I'm trying to dig out the day and import the right files. Do you have any idea how to import a backed up folder? I don't want to simply overwrite, but just import. Tom

Because the mails you see there are the mails in the real folders.

File -> Import Then select import single file, and set the file type as mbox. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1).
