Microsoft says to take aim at Google!(OT)

Losing Google would set the whole Internet back at least 10 years. Losing it to M$ would basically set the 'Net back 20 years. (Surely they would make sure their version didn't run on anything but the latest version of Windows.) At 18:51 04/02/2003 -0500, Fred A. Miller wrote:

Yep, the DOJ ineptitude shows through once more as M$ continues to quash anythinhg that it feels is a threat or will hinder their play to dominate everything IT/IS. This would be terrible if Google were bought out by Bill and Co, I wonder, is Google a public company? I hope that those on the board don't go for the money - but if history and investors hold true this hope may soon be dashed. I am gratified by the continuing decline in M$ stock value. I hope that they continue to press their license programs. I also hope they find that Windows Server 2003 is as much a let down as Unreal Tournament 2003 insofar as it was overhyped and a big disappointment. I wager that within 6 months Server 2003 will be exploited as everything else M$ and this will finally put to rest Gates claims about "trustworthy" computing. On the issue of Google,... well I just hope that Google see the need to remain independent over the need for a one time big buyout revenue grab! This is not intended to prolong an essentially OT topic, but while I also am not bothered on the pro-linux side to see MS lose some value, it turns out that a sizable portion of my retirement investments (company controlled), and I'll bet yours and others are invested in MS. Sort of gives me some mixed feelings here. I just hate to be losing more money to M$ other than what I previously paid for their software, but never will again. Sorry for expanding an OT. Richard
