Hi, for those using kde 3.0.3, have you tried to click menu "Help/<app> handbook" in any KDE applications? I've tried this on 2 machines, one with 8.0 and the other is 7.2. On both machines, this menu triggers no action, no help window is displayed. Also, in dialog boxes (e.g, setting preferences), the "help" button -- which is supposed to perform same action as Help/<app> hadnbook -- does not trigger any action. Regards, Verdi

We've gone through this several times since the 3.0.2 YOU upgrade. Unless I'm wrong, it's never been resolved, so for now (or until you buy your 8.1 box...) :-) you can go to the local URL help:/kwhatever/index.html in Konqi and bookmark the handbook you want. For example for the Kmail handbook go to help:/kmail/index.html. -- Bryce Hardy (Santa Rosa, CA) brycehdy@sonic.net

It has been resolved! Copy /opt/kde3/share/applnk/Help.desktop to /opt/kde3/share/services and name it khelpcenter.desktop. Then edit it in a text editor and change Exec=khelpcenter to Exec=khelpcenter %u and change Type=Application to Type=Service Then log out and in again and your help should work from the menu as before regards Anders

Thanks for that one Anders. It's nice to have it working again. -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. I say, by the grace God, I am what I am.

Credit goes to the good people of suse-kde@suse.com. That was where I heard the solution. It's a good place for kde related problems. To subscribe send a mail to "suse-kde-subscribe@suse.com"
