NVidia driver for 2.4.19 kernel
Hello, Is there a packaged nVidia driver for a 2.4.19 kernel, or do I have to compile my own? I have the last drivers - checked on apt, YOU and nVidia site and they refuse to work, complaining about being compiled for 2.4.18. I'm on a 3.6k connection, so I'd like to avoid downloading the kernel sources. -- mioriticus "Think of it as evolution in action."
I am trying to access apache on my SuSE 8.0 Por system, but having difficulties and am a little confused. I am not even sure if apache is INSTALLED. I don't know how to tell for sure. When I try to access http://localhost with any browser, I get this: The connection was refused when attempting to contact loalhost. Does this imply that apache IS up but some problem such as permissions is blocking me? I have searched the Internet and no one else has this problem, so it is probably my own dumb ignorance. My installation is pretty vanilla-flavored except for adding Codeweaver's Crossover plugin (not root), mozilla 1.1, and OpenOffice. Why I think that apache is installed and I'm just too dumb to see it: + Apache is listed on the box that SuSE 8.0 Pro came in. (There were no SuSE install errors.) + Apache was loaded (and worked) on the 7.3 version. Why not 8.0? + The manuals imply that it is there. + I cannot find anyone else on the Internet that has this problem. Why I think that apache is NOT installed: - It doesn't work. - Directories mentioned in various documentation are not found on my system. - I don't see apache mentioned on the LILO startup screen. - I can't find it on the dvd - at least not by the name "apache". - It's not in the runtime editor list. - The SuSE Install software packages progam does not list apache. SuSE documentation on this is poor. Page 272 is abomitally inadiquate! If I have to attempt to install apache from elsewhere, will it work on SuSE 8.0? Or will there be failures due to incompatibilities? Thanks, Warren Light

Try opening YaST -> Software -> Install/Remove Software and search for the word "apache". It should tell you if it's installed or not. And next time please try a new message instead of replying to an existing thread with another subject. It's easier to organize this way. -- mioriticus "Think of it as evolution in action."
Thank you Susan, Steve and Bogdan. Each of you have contributed to my success in geting started with apache - which row runs and starts on my PC after a Linux reboot. I have done some work with ASP on IIS but am now looking forward to trying out apache & PHP on Linux. I no longer have that other O/S on my PC - and don't miss it! Warren

Install Apache from the SuSE CD's using Yast then check to see it is running:(as root) rcapache status and we'll take it from there. Good luck, Steve.

Since I type with my elbows my "-" key is totally worn out.
