RE: [SLE] Services skipped in runlevel
wmeler
I'm getting a message during startup that says Services skipped in runlevel 5 smbfs
( or something along those lines... I'm not in front of the screen right now).
I get a similar message during shutdown that says Services skipped in runlevel 0 smbfs
I've seen this sort of message in the past.
1)What does it mean?
2)How do I get rid of it?
Hi, I get a similar message because I have "samba" installed on my SuSE 8.1, but not configured. (it is not even "turned on") If I wanted to get rid of the message I could remove "samba" by doing as root: "rpm -e samba" But, because I know what it is, I just ignore it, However, I do keep it "patched." If you are not using "samba" and don't ever expect to, from a security point of view, it would be good to remove, if you are, then see Bret's comments. As far as your shutdown problems goes -- there is no relation AFAIK. What SuSE distro are you running ??? and on what machine ??? (Did you google as it has been discussed here before ?)
