[opensuse] Any way to get suse built 4.0.5 packages
With the new way the KDE build services are setup will there be a way to get 4.0.5 (supported or unsupported) onto openSUSE 11.0? The previous methods used for the build services would allow this under the stable build (which is now being used for only the life of the version of kde that shipped with the distro). Thanks -- Ben Kevan " The brain is like a parachute, it doesn't work very well if it can't be opened." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

To the Repositories list add the KDE Community build service and you will even get KDE4.1 Beta installed. Ciao. -- If you don't succeed you run the risk of failure. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, the 4.1 BETA. I need a stable system hence a released stable 4.0.5. Is the SUSE Build Service going to abandon minor revision changes if the next distribution will not include it? -- Ben Kevan " The brain is like a parachute, it doesn't work very well if it can't be opened." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have only just installed 11.0 on my "main" computer and haven't bothered with KDE4 this time (as I found it to be a PITA and even more so at the KDE4.1 Beta level), but there is the Repository called KDE:Factory or some such which may provide the stable version you are after. Factory and Unstable both provide 4.1 Beta. Stable provides updated 4.0.4 packages (and was said to include NO 4.0.5 code). I don't run KDE4 on my machine either, but would still like the ability for the KDE4 packages that come installed with openSUSE by default. -- Ben Kevan " The brain is like a parachute, it doesn't work very well if it can't be opened." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ah, the question then is: what makes you ask about KDE 4.0.5 - where did you hear about this 4.0.5 version? Have you heard that 4.0.5 is the next expected progression? And if you did then wherever you heard this stated would also have given the source where it would be available, yes? I am only trying to figure out why you keep asking about 4.0.5, nothing more. The openSUSE 11.0 shipped 4.0.4 has quite a few backported patches/features from 4.1 and other fixes. Vanilla 4.0.5 would really be a step backwards, not forwards. -- Benjamin Weber -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There are no intentions (due to hdd space and work force constraints) to have 4.0.5 packages. If you know 4.0.5 bugfixes that should be in 4.0.4 packages or online updates file a bug report and we will look at it on a case base.
