Tivoli and Linux deliver autonomic functionality(OT)
"I understand that Linux is a tier one platform for Tivoli. What does that mean? Steve: In today's business environment, it is critical that companies are able to manage their IT infrastructure regardless of the operating systems their applications are installed on. This is why Tivoli products support the industry leading operating systems like AIX, Windows, Linux, Solaris and many more. However, Linux is arguably the fastest growing operating systems in the world, and Tivoli recognizes the strategic importance of Linux in today's marketplace. Being a tier one-platform means that Linux will get the same dedicated development and test support as the other already established enterprise proven platforms." http://www-1.ibm.com/linux/linuxline/apr03/wojtowecz.shtml -- Fred A. "I understand that Linux is a tier one platform for Tivoli. What does that mean?
What this means is that Linux is a primary deployment platform for Tivoli as is AIX, Solaris, Windows. Linux receives the same development and release priority as the other primary OS's (the Tier 1 OS's). What it will mean for Tivoli's customers is that updates or new releases of their software for the other primary OS's will not be made at the expense of support for the Linux OS. hth -- Mark Registered Linux User #219700 http://counter.li.org "The kind of person who always insists on his way of seeing things can never learn anything from anyone."
