RE: [SLE] How to share a printer with linux
Hi
Trying localhost:901 will improve your chances. And you are even more likely to see it if you go to ~Yast2 ~Network Services ~Network Services(inetd) in 8.2 and make sure that swat is ON. Might need to do something in /etc/services to enable the 901 port or something somewhere else. Do ask again if you need to, 'cos I would like to be sure of this one myself - its been nearly 2 weeks since I did it, and my memory is fading...
The samba web-service is called swat. It listens on port 901. There should an entry in /etc/services defining the port 901 to the service swat (it's been there since I can remember, which is something like SuSE 5.2 ...). You can enable it using inetd or xinetd, whatever you use. (http://at.samba.org/samba/docs/man/swat.8.html) regards, Stefan
Hi How do you ensure that sendmail is not on open relay, and how to you restrict relaying so that only mail from a certain IP range will be relayed? Thanks Evan Morris evan@exclusivebooks.com Tel: +27 11 792 2777 Fax: +27 11 792 2711 Cell: +27 82 926 3630

Check: /etc/mail/relay-domains Put the IP for Relay. And check: /etc/mail/access Put the relay domains too. And after: makemap hash access < access And restart sendmail.
Or even better, dump sendmail and use what SuSE uses on this list, qmail. Just follow the instructions at http://www.lifewithqmail.org/lwq.html and you will have a very secure mta.
