Packman / KMyMoney / h323 dependency problems - anyone else?
Hi, Without going in to excessive detail, my updater globe (repositories are limited to suse, suse updates, packman) currently has an orange exclamation mark, but shows two updates which won't install due to missing or broken dependencies. One is to KMyMoney, the other to h323-devel. I've got bored waiting for the updater to finish "Getting Update List" since I opened it (several minutes now on a 1.5Mbps ADSL line and Core 2 Duo 2GHz), so no more details for the moment - just wondered if anyone else had hit the same problem lately.
OK, forget it, I changed mirrors and the problems went away (sort of - a bunch of h323-related packman packages went from x86_64 to i586 to sort out some conflicts in YaST, but apart from that, ...) One point though, which is that when I entered YaST to alter my installation sources, it hung for several minutes, trying to refresh from the mirrors which I knew by now to be down - that was why I'd entered YaST - to replace them with ones which work! Is it really necessary to refresh all the repositories when one starts the tool to manage them?

No, it's not necessary. And that's why, as I recall, whenever you add a new source it is automatically Enabled but Refresh is set to Off. ;-)

Yes. I decided I wasn't using either one so I went to YaST and deleted them. That got me back to code blue ;-) If you need those then write the person at packman that compiled them and see what they say. Cheers, Bob

Hmm, not true I think - I replaced all my mirrors yesterday evening (with more reliable ones, I hope), and although the 10.1 installation sources appeared with refresh disabled, Packman and the updates repository have refresh enabled immediately. I suppose that really I was asking "Is it necessary to refresh _any_ of the repositories when starting YaST Installation Sources?" - when some of those repositories have disappeared, it takes a long time to time out, which is frustrating when one is starting the tool specifically to remove those ones!
