Is there a way to back up a whole partition (usually the / partition) with ext2/3 filesystem like drive image for windows? How do you back up and restore your partitions on a SUSE Linux server? -- Ulrich Schneider
There's lots of good information at http:www.storagemountain.com, formerly www.backupcentral.com, itself I believe a spinoff from the O'Reilly book on Unix backups by W. Curtis Preston. Some of the stuff there is for people running major datacentres, but there is also smaller scale stuff. Perhaps give this a try, as there are lots of answers to this question. A SCSI tape drive with DDS tape is one route, that seems to be working for me, but then I haven't actually had to restore a whole partition yet ... Best Fergus On Monday 13 May 2002 12:44, you wrote:
