Hello, I have one trouble. I must migrate 3500 users from an RedHat 6.2 to an SuSE 7.2 I have on server (RedHat 6.2) with an /etc/passwd how contain user with non shadowed password. Example : gelcan69:67jScuviFwFaI:2113:501:rest :/home/gelcan69:/dev/null As you can see the password is crypted. I must migrate all this users on a SuSE7.2 with this passwd format : gelcan69:x:2113:501:rest:/home/gelcan69:/dev/null Is a tool existing to do this ? I have find webmin user creation import tool, but if the passwd field is blank, no password will be assigned for the user. If it contains just the letter x, the account will be locked. Otherwise, the text in the field will be taken as the cleartext password and encrypted. But I wan't that the user don't have to change their password. In the same case, i don't wan't what the home directory are created because i gonna migrate all this stuff to. Have you some informations ? Thanks. Regards Eric
Try this: mkdir /tmp/bla cd /tmp/bla cp /etc/passwd old_passwd cat old_passwd | awk -F ':' '{printf("%s:x:%s:%s:%s:%s:%s\n",$1,$3,$4,$5,$6,$7);}' >newpasswd cat old_passwd | awk -F ':' '{printf("%s:%s:0:0:10000::::\n",$1,$2);}' >newshadow Then you have the old password file split into passwd and shadow -tosi Þann laugardagur 22 september 2001 13:15 skrifaðir þú:
