Cups users who need to get .ps file from .dvi?
The dvi2ps (which converts TeX .dvi files to postscript .ps files) is in the package lpdfilter for SuSE 9.3: http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/professional/lpdfilter.html But if you have cups, you can not install lpdfilter because it conficts with cups, cups-SUSE-ppds-dat, and cups-drivers-stp. According to yast2. So what is a cups user to do if he wants to send a .ps file to some one with a postscript printer (via email perhaps), if he has a .dvi file? -- Paul Elliott 1(512)837-1096 pelliott@io.com PMB 181, 11900 Metric Blvd Suite J http://www.io.com/~pelliott/pme/ Austin TX 78758-3117

What? Did you read his message? It can not be installed, that's the original problem. Bad memory, the program name is dvips, no 2. It is in tetex, no conflict. Jeffrey

Why don't you use /usr/bin/dvips which is in the tetex RPM? By the way: To print .dvi files directly with CUPS, see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/01/pohletz_print_dvi_90.html which is found by fulltext search for "cups dvi" in http://portal.suse.com/PM/page/search.pm Kind Regards Johannes Meixner -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5 Mail: jsmeix@suse.de 90409 Nuernberg, Germany WWW: http://www.suse.de/
