[opensuse] Upgrading 10.2 to 10.3
Has anyone ever upgraded 10.2 to 10.3 online? (ie without taking the machine down for an install session - only downtime = the reboot for the new kernel) I spent this afternoon doing it - 130 packages to manually upgrade with RPM before YaST is in a state to run! (not sure if zypper will be happy after either - it (randomly) crashes during a repository refresh at the moment) Phil -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

turns out YaST is vulnerable too - both crash somewhere inside of what looks to be curl. YaST just seems to get further. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You might want to go to 11.0 instead because 10.3 has been EOL'd as well. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

that's the plan. I figure 10.3 is just the next step on the way there (at least there are instructions online for doing it with 10.3) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have successfully upgraded from 10.2 to 11.0 (but from a networked DVD image, not online. Tend to prefer to avoid on line installation from external sources as it just adds something else to go wrong). So it is a viable option. - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone. I did 10.3 => 11.1 -KMail did not migrate settings - there are a few reports on what might fix this they must be done before you start kde4 (rename ~.kde3 to ~.kde) -audio was on/off for a while -I had to recompile the drivers I built which was to be expected, but I thought that I had the most recent kernel running on 10.3 -there was a zypper upgrade in between 10 and 11 -- Collector of vintage computers http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
