Phantom cd ejection with SuSE 9.1
Folks, I've installed SuSE 9.1 Pro on an old HP Pavilion 6545C, which I'm using for backup storage and for ripping music. Everything is hunky dory except the CD drive, which decides to "eject" on its own at random times, leaving the drive with its "tongue" hanging out. This occurs when the drive is empty as well as when it is running a CD. If I'm ripping a CD, the drive will eject in mid-rip. I can push the CD holder back in, and ripping will continue for another minute or so. Then the drive ejects itself again. Likewise, when I'm using the computer but not the drive at all, it will open on its own, I can close it, and it will open a few moments later. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Or am I stuck with a perpetually panting desktop computer? Maybe, like dogs, the thing just wants to "sweat" through its "tongue." Next thing I know, it will want me to take it for a walk in the morning. Best, Pete -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peter N. Feed it, water it and take a long walk with it. Pet it and brush it. Then spend a few minutes searching the archives or google for " cd open ejection suse-linux-e". It has been discussed in the last few, < 7, days. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos
