Greetings all, I notice that on the FOSDEM agenda there is a "SUSE Linux LiveCD Tutorial". Will/are the tools used by SUSE to generate the livecds be available for anyone to use? May modified and or unmodified copies of the livecd be distributed freely, and if so what restrictions apply? I ask this as each year our LUG produces a modified livecd for every first year CS student at the university here. We set the CDs up for easy connection to campus servers, and include the tools they will need for their first year modules. We are currently evaluating which distribution to base our livecd for next year on. Thanks Benji

Yes.

Yes, our intention is to allow this, and to make the "rules" that might be necessary as straightforward as possible. There is, however, legalese involved (and it seems we should hurry up a bit with getting it done).

Personally I'd love to see projects like this based on opensuse. That's all I can say for now, but stay tuned. Sonja -- Sonja Krause-Harder (skh@suse.de) Research & Development SUSE Linux Products GmbH

They are actually available already -- but haven't been promoted that much yet ;) Check out http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?livecd and stay tuned for Steffen's talk @ FOSDEM. Regards Christoph

I certainly will. I can already see an extention to makeSUSEdvd in the making. :-) Perhaps a renaming to makeSUSEiso is needed, or makeSUSEdistributional_and_installable_sources as it does more then just make an iso. On the above URL, I must say that I understand that there is not a much to see there. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Sie ist das Kostbarste, was wir haben, denn es ist unwiederbringliche Lebenszeit. Well, yes, you can download the scripts and run them. Steffen

I click on `files` and get: No files found. So I do not directly see where I could download the script. Perhaps I look too hard, because I really cand find it. :-/ houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Click on 'SVN', follow the directions under "Anonymous Subversion Access". cheers, Sonja -- Sonja Krause-Harder (skh@suse.de) Research & Development SUSE Linux Products GmbH

they are. Search for 'livecd' on forge.novell.com. The second hit gets you to the project homepage. Works pretty well for 10.0 but has still some problems with 10.1. I hope to have sorted things out until FOSDEM. Steffen
