Email settings in yast fot SuSE V8.1
Hi, I try and use Yast for all settings where possible as it provides a unified method of system set-up, (I run several systems for other people), and there appears to be a problem. I am using a standard installation of postfix receiving mail for my network but am receiving mails from my ISP, (Demon), saying:-
'Demon Internet currently offers two ways of accessing email.
In one, SMTP, the SMTP client running on the mail machines at Demon sends email to a SMTP server (or "daemon") on your machine and then deletes it on the Demon machines.
In the other, POP3, the POP3 server offers the client a list of files; the client then chooses which of these files to retrive or to download.
When both ways are used simultaneously, it can happen that a message that was initially found and offered by the POP3 server is then delivered and deleted by the SMTP client; when the POP3 client then requests it, it is gone.'
That has just happened.
My email still seems to be delivered properly - however this message wasn't being received when I used postfix under 7.1 with the same settings. My SuSEfirewall2 settings only allow external connection from the internet from my ISP's email servers to connect for outgoing mail on port 25 as suggested. Any ideas TIA/Rgds Andy
