Matei, Thanks for everyone's help so far... I am probably not getting it but my session selection drop down does not include gnome. Further when I go to control center --> Sys Admin --> Login Mgr. --> Sessions, the session type of gnone does not appear and selecting ADD yields no gnome availability. Thinking I need to install gnome I went to YaST2 clicked on GNOME, checked dependencies and clicked Accept. Still no GNOME! Any thoughts? PS: in YaST2 --> GNOME, should all the packages be checked on only those pre-selected? --- Matei Traistaru <mateitz@hotmail.com> wrote:
You can start a gnome session either by typing in a console: "startx gnome" (prior to that you should make sure that no kdm/gdm/xdm is running or basically that X isn't running) or - the easiest way - by selecting gnome from kdm menu (kdm is the default for SuSE).
