[SLE] Found solution!! Netscape click on button, nothing happens
Hello, found a solution to a very unusual problem. My Netscape 4.7 installed via SuSE 6.3 was working fine. Except that on some sites, I would click on a button, and nothing would happen. The button would move, but nothing. One irritating instance, was the delete button in Yahoo mail not working. The fix was to delete the ~/.netscape directory, and let Netscape recreate it. Now things work fine. I upgraded from SuSE 6.3 to 6.4 yesterday, and I got nothing but bus errors from Netscape. Additionally, I installed 4.72 from the download from Netscape and it cored. I did not have the time to mess with it, so I simply uninstalled it via YaST, and installed Netscape directly from the download. (I need 128 bit encryption anyway). I also have a startup script that sets up the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for RealPlayer. For the most part, 6.4 upgraded correctly and everything works. As usual, I had to reinstall OSS. I do plan to do a full installation from scratch next week, but I didn't want to take the time. -- Jerry Feldman Contractor, eInfrastructure Partner Engineering 508-467-4315 http://www.testdrive.compaq.com/linux/ Compaq Computer Corp. 200 Forest Street MRO1-3/F1 Marlboro, Ma. 01752 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Yes, unfortunately Netscape on 6.4 is very crash prone. This seems to be triggered by a compiler bug in the X11 libraries. An update should appear soon. In addition to updating the netscape RPM itself, you need to update some XFree86 packages as well.

Glad to hear, that it worked out well :)

Good luck on that!
